While the secular world’s celebration of Christmas ends on December 25, the Christmas season of the church extends from December 25 to January 5 and usually includes at least one Sunday.
For the purposes of our blog, this week I will be posting readings and thoughts that come from three of the six traditional Christmas and Epiphany worship gatherings.
Readings:
Isaiah 9:2-7, Psalm 96, Titus 2:11-14, Luke 2:1-20
Isaiah 9:6-7 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.[1]
