“Advent is a corporate spiritual journey that calls for expectant waiting and readiness for the coming of Christ. When the church travels this journey and treats it as a discipline of life and prayer, the joy of Christmas is immeasurably intensified” (Robert E. Webber, Services of the Christian Year).

Prayer: Lord, we are hungry, and You are the only bread that can satisfy our hunger. We are thirsty, and You, Lord Jesus, are the living water that can quench our thirst. Help us to understand that when we chase after other things to satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts, what we really need is You. Blessed Redeemer, come near to us now and remind us of Your amazing love and empower us to live according to that love. In the powerful name of Jesus, amen.
