Over the next few days, I would like to once again remember the story of Messiah as told in and through the Scriptures. Too often we pastors are hurried. We run from here to there doing this and that, but for the next few minutes I suggest that you simply sit back and recount with me once again the story of our Lord and Messiah through this year’s Advent readings (Robert E. Webber, Services of the Christian Year). In each post I will offer a brief thought or prayer and then give a list of readings. Please take some time to read and reflect on these verses.
Prayer: Lord, so often we are busy accomplishing the tasks of ministry. But right now in this moment we choose to simply sit quietly in Your presence. We ask that You would teach us Your ways. Lord, may we walk in Your light, and may we be lights that shine in the darkness. Our salvation has come near, and His name is Jesus. Amen.
Readings: Isaiah 2:1-5, Psalm 122, Romans 13:11-14, Matthew 24:36-44
