Sermons for Special Occasions

Sermons for Special Occasions

There is nothing in the Bible that tells us what to preach on Easter or Christmas, not to mention when we are invited to speak to a Rotary or Kiwanis Club. Yet even though there are no specific verses that give us direction on how to deal with special occasions, we do have biblical promises. Specifically, we are promised that if we seek wisdom from God, we will receive it.

From time to time, we as pastors are invited to pray or speak publically. Whether at a Christian Businessmen’s gathering or a funeral service, we have an opportunity to present the hope of Christ. At such times, wisdom from above is especially needed.

With this thought in mind, I’d like to share some suggestions from my heart that helped me when speaking on special occasions and in special places. Tomorrow we will begin by discussing some ideas for preaching and teaching on special occasions within the church context. Then we will conclude this part of the conversation by looking at ideas for speaking and presenting at special events and in special places outside the church context.
