Here at RBC Ministries our mission is to make the life-changing wisdom of the Bible accessible and understandable to all. This drives all that we do. We strive to make sure that we are saying what the Scriptures say—no more and no less. We try to be accurate. We work tirelessly to speak with love and mercy; and we make every effort to be clear and understandable.
Frankly, my job would be a whole lot easer if we didn’t work so hard. It would be much easier to simply speak the “truth,” if I didn’t have to worry about being loving. It would certainly be less work if I just had to tell people what the Bible said rather than attempting to apply its wisdom. And if the ministry would just let me worry about a small subsection of people instead of trying to communicate to all, my life would be much less stressful. But that’s not my job.
My guess is that’s not your job either. Every pastor faces the same struggle that I face. How do you make the life-changing wisdom of the Bible accessible and understandable to all? One way we can do this is by providing an experience with the text rather than just exposing propositions from the text.
This is why it is so important to help people engage the narrative portions of scripture. It is harder work but well worth the effort.
