“The Mysteries of Life Can Be Solved” (Part 3)

“The Mysteries of Life Can Be Solved” (Part 3)

We are looking at some of the “mysteries” revealed by God for us.  Paul uses the word “mystery” to refer to a secret we could not figure out by ourselves. The final of these is:

Mystery #5:  How Does It All End?

The fifth mystery written about by Paul is related to the end of time:

“He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment – to bring all things in heaven and earth together under one head, even Christ” (Eph. 1:9, 10).

Surely everyone has thought about how this whole thing called life will end.  In one general sense, it is no longer a mystery.  God has revealed how this ship called life will come into port. He has been given this mystery and it’s in a very strong sentence about the very end of life, when God will put all things under the one banner of Jesus Christ.  When all of time and history will bring Him glory.

Also at that time, “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth.” This will clearly be “to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:10, 11).

This ending of life means it would be very good to live in obedience to the lordship of Christ each day also.  We can have strong confidence and hope in our Lord.  We may not understand today or tomorrow, but we do know where it is all headed.

Now, you may be wondering then who the winner is, or how history will reach its culmination.

Is it not spelled out with specificity, but it is certainly said to be under the lordship of Jesus Christ.  That’s where all this called history is headed.  Count on it, for sure. So this mystery clears up our doubts about final victory.

  • It opens the way for sure hope.
  • It tells us that we are on the right path when we are following Jesus Christ.
  • It reminds us that all things were made both by Him and for Him, and this is the time when all things will go to Him.  And He will be judge and savior and Lord forever and ever.

So shall we believe this and rest in this wonderful assurance?

It is very obvious that all the mysteries have their clarification tied up with the person and work of Jesus Christ.  Actually all the Scriptures have their clarification and centrality around Jesus Christ.  Remember when Jesus was walking on the road to Emmaus with two people and He explained to them how all the Bible was about Him (Luke 24: 27)!

It really is, and so should our lives be about Christ.  He is the revelation of the mysteries of life.  He gives meaning to life!  He clarifies.  He opens up the doors to hope and love and grace.

So, mysteries that are way beyond us, too wonderful for us to understand or talk about, as Job said (Job 42:3), have their description or secret opened by something Christ already did or will do.

No wonder we put Him at the center of our faith.  No wonder we meet every Sunday to worship Him and sing about Him and to Him.  No wonder He is the subject of our concerns and friendship messages.

He is the one who shows us what God is like. He is the Savior of all who believe, and there is no secret about how you get there by faith.

Jesus Christ is the one who brings Jew and Gentile together under one roof, or one banner.  We belong to His body. Christ himself is the one who arose from the dead to become the first of those who arise – all of us who believe.  We are raised to eternal life because of Christ and His grace and love. Christ is the one who will bring all things together someday, dealing with all evil and rewarding all right.

We can be sure.

And we can center our lives on him in a good way right now.

What a message to share!
